As a kid, what did you want to become when you grew up??

As a kid, what did you want to become when you grew up??

Confusing?? Just like what you wanted to become and what you became?? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I recently heard this being asked to a kid He wanted to become a footballer – good for him

As a kid I wanted to become a teacher – for me it was the easiest profession – teaching others, scolding others ๐Ÿ˜‰ and when asked to write an essay on this topic, it was easier to write good things about it. I enjoyed teaching also at that time.

A friend wanted to become a policeman so he can hit others!! A cousin wanted to become a pilot so he could fly like our dear Balloo (if you remember that cute bear from our cartoon days who used to fly planes). Another friend wanted to become Miss India after listening to that famous song….. On asking this question to few of my friends now I got some more interesting answers ๐Ÿ˜‰

With time I read about space and universe and wanted to become an astronaut. Being good in sports I wanted to become a sportsperson ….. no teacher….. no astronaut….. poooffff….

That kept going and going. Those were the days when there were selected professions and stability and safety of work was considered more important. The thin line of jobs which men can do and which women can do was there. You saw someone doing something great or not so great and you wanted to become one.

Ultimately, I chose to study commerce and then study CA – I jumped into this line without realising the complexities it may bring - เคœเคฌ เค“เค–เคฒी เคฎें เคธिเคฐ เคฆिเคฏा เคคो เคฎूเคธเคฒों เคธे เค•्เคฏा เคกเคฐเคจा. There were long hours of studies and lots of hard work – probably it would have been the same had I chosen a different profession

Now having moved ahead in my chosen career, I also took up other things – like writing, photography, sports which – I never know may become my career some day!!!

But looking back, I also saw many of my knowns doing wonders in life – someone who was not very good in studies becoming a doctor, someone doing lots of social work, someone enjoying life with family, someone struggling the 9-5 at work with the 5-9 at home, someone making a switch in career at mid-level, someone leaving all the ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฉ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜บ๐˜ข and moving to something else…..

Ultimately the profession or career did not matter – what we thought we will become as a child did not matter… what mattered was what we become as a human being.

A good human being doing good to others, who is talked about with love and respect at their back?

A happy human, being content and satisfied at whatever we were doing?

A human always smiling and doing things which they love apart from their profession?

Or a person stuck doing something which is not at all being enjoyed by him/ her?

You became what you wanted to become or not – if you are a good human, you became what you should

Do let me know what you wanted to become? And ultimately the result ๐Ÿ˜‰

I leave you to this thought on this ๐‘พ๐’†๐’… ๐Ÿ˜Š

While at my sister's place this weekend, I was sipping my morning tea and noticed a cute cat in the near-by flat….  sitting in the balcony and looking around. She noticed me and started looking at me. I tried to talk to her in some way but then a pigeon flew by and pooofff.. she again got busy with them...

I mentioned this to my sister but she had not noticed this little fur ball much.... She was more intrigued by the plants and other things in their balcony

Later in the evening, while strolling in the Mumbai breeze, I noticed a small coffee shop with a very eye- catching name – I mentioned to my sis and she had not noticed the name but the dรฉcor of the coffee shop which was bright coloured and looked so welcoming!!

Well, both of us were looking at the same thing but noticing something else.

On a recent trip to Delhi, while on a cab with a friend, she noticed the unique colour of the car next to us whereas I noted its brand and model.

Many days during my morning walks I notice and click pictures of flowers and plants which catch my eye. There are other friends who take the same walking route but don’t see them. In fact a friend wasn’t aware that there are fish in the pond which is on the way because she never looked that way.

เคฒเค— เคฐเคนा – everyone is looking at the same thing or place but everyone is looking at different things!!!

Even in professional life, each work or task may be looked at differently by team members. Some may be looking at the data, some at the way it is presented, some at the related work coming up, some are already at the next slide and some at the person presenting ๐Ÿ˜‰!!

Success or failure may also be looked at differently by people. While some may look at small success as big achievements, others may look at it as failure

From the cat to my sister to my friend to my fellow professionals, everyone looks at the same thing but look at it differently – look at what they may want to look or like - which is also a beauty in itself!

As a team or at home, having people looking at things differently and providing inputs on some needed occasion definitely brings different flavour to life and work!!

I leave you to this different เคจเคœ़เคฐ เคตाเคฒा thought on this ๐‘พ๐’†๐’… ๐Ÿ˜Š

(One Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, and one here…)

Most of us are following the biggest event of the year – Mahakumbh and are mesmerized by its vastness and belief of the people.

I also happened to visit a grand event this month- the ๐˜”๐˜ข๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฌ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฉ of CAs, if I can call it so – the WOFA (World Forum of Accountants) which was a 3 day conference organised by ICAI- a full packed event with interesting sessions, opportunities to network and full of amazing learnings and insights. There were several sessions and discussions which opened the mind to new thoughts and ideas, developments and updates. It was wonderful to listen to various speakers and to feel proud of our profession. Seeing so many CAs on leadership roles was very inspiring. Sitting amidst so many CAs was very enriching. Meeting different members coming from different cities and countries and doing different things was awesome. In all it was a very very insightful time spent. Listening to the Budget with all the CA brains was a cherry on the cake ๐Ÿ˜‰

Last year I got a chance to visit the Jaipur Literature Fest around the same time. That also was an amazing experience. Being an avid reader, it was an altogether different experience being amidst a like minded crowd. That event also opened the mind and gave so many beautiful learnings.

And my thinking- hat thought that it is always a good idea to attend any such event – any such เคœ्เคžाเคจ เค•ा เคฎเคนाเค•ुเคฎ्เคญ…. it may vary depending on your interests and other circumstances – but making out time for any such sessions definitely gives a different perspective. It could be any event – big or small, online or offline, one day, many days or even an hour- but meeting and being among like - minded people or people have similar interests always brightens up the mind and day!!

And you get to learn too- not only the technical part but other things as well.

Sharing few learnings which I gathered--

·      ✨ Have an understanding of the logistics and operational part of the event  - one should be fully aware about the area, ways of commuting,  and other such operational aspects prior to attending- this will avoid any last minute glitches

·        You can’t be at two places at a time – I wanted to attend both the session being held in different halls and tried doing so by sitting for one in the first half of the session and the second half in the next one – ended up confused ๐Ÿ˜„and then decided to go through the schedule and pick the most interesting session and sit through whole of it

·        Make notes- an age- old habit of mine- I always carry a notepad and pen or keep my phone handy when visiting such events or sitting in any type of meeting or discussions– เค•्เคฏा เคชเคคा เค•เคนाँ เคธे เคœ्เคžाเคจ เค•ी เค•्เคฏा เค•ुंเคœी เคฎिเคฒ เคœाเค

·        Take the learnings home – whatever you may learn take it home and apply them when possible

·        Come with 100% - when attending any type of event- come with 100% mind to it – don’t get distracted by that email, that status update or story – try to be there fully

·        Ultimately enjoy the event – amidst the seriousness of it, don’t forget to enjoy the experience.

I leave you to this event wala thought on this ๐‘พ๐’†๐’… ๐Ÿ˜Š
