The joy of giving and the Secret Santas of our life!!

The joy of giving and the Secret Santas of our life!!

What is the best gift to give ... I was thinking before Christmas, to gift as a secret santa to my friends. What could be that thing which they may not have or would be really happy to see...
🎅Some clothes or accessories- nah- why to ruin someone's look with my choice 😉
🎅Something to eat--kitna khayenge? 🤭
🎅Something to read - gali padegi 😂
🎅Something something.... - kyaa?🤔

And I ended up not giving anything !!

But later realised I gave them my time!! The biggest treasure which I have!! Very precious moments of my life to people whom I care for and adore

Isn’t time our most precious gift... The time we give to others .. because we love spending time with them... because we have a lovely time with them ..

Taking out time from our so very busy routine and giving and spending it with our friends and loved ones is the most beautiful thing to do

I would also cut short the whistle and let you spend time with your loved ones... Undivided time .. not thinking about work, or other commitments but fully with the person you are spending time with ...

Enjoy this festive season ... Have a merry Christmas and a lovely start of the next year....

Wednesday Whistle will be out of office for few days and return back with more ideas… 😉

(picture of me enjoying Christmas at our housing society along with admiration received on my writing by a very cute and young admirer- the secret santa gift for me 😊)

I leave you to this Christmasy 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚........ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓!

Learning what not to do….

𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 # 130

Learning what not to do….

During early years of my career, I had a manager who never took stand for us. He would pass the buck on us but take the credit for the good work. Being a fresher I did not understand much but moving onwards in career realized that it was not a good trait of leadership

I knew a person whose opinion never matched mine and I always ended up arguing with her. She enjoyed triggering me and making me lose focus on the main point of discussion on hand. I later realized that me reacting on everything she said if incorrect was beneficial to her and she could easily get things done her way.

I played cricket recently and got out quiet quick-flew a catch while trying to hit a long shot. I learned to stay steady first and then start hitting.

Just few examples from my personal and professional life but they taught me something very important – what not to do… Not to be a manager passing the buck on your team members, not to react immediately allowing others to use it against you, playing the game slowly but steadily….. and so many more things

In life we keep learning new things – new technologies, new skills, new habits… but we often forget those which we should not learn…. The technologies which may harm you in any way, make you lazy, the skills or habits which may go against you in any manner, the traits of your personality which your competitor may use against you, so on and so forth

In situations where you lose or don't get the desired results, you learn the way of how things should not have been done.

Not learning a new thing is not good but not learning what not to do may also be harmful

As Thomas Edison said - "I have not failed. I've just found 10000 ways that wont work"

I leave you to this learn-not- to- do thought on this cold 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚... 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓! 😊

Yayyy and we won!!!!

Yayyy and we won!!!!

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐩𝐬.... 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬...

So in continuation of my last week post which talked about the cricket tournament which I was participating in, our team played the final match this Sunday.

It was indeed a nail-biting match... An 𝘢𝘣- 𝘬𝘺𝘢- 𝘩𝘰𝘨𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢 match...

Our team got batting first and we somehow could not manage to set up a good score. The opponent had to score only 29 runs in 8 overs to win!!

With lots of tension the second innings started. Our team was adamant to win and with good balling and fielding, the match was won with some excellent catches and amazing team co-ordination.

There was a lot of jubilation and prizes were distributed, pictures clicked and win was celebrated.

Next day putting on my thinking hat, I started thinking about the days gone by with this game and the different players. Everyone who stepped foot on that field was a winner as he/ she took out time to do something which he/ she enjoyed.

But my heart went out to our opponents of the final game. All of them are my friends and we meet regularly. But on the field we were playing against one another giving a tough fight to each one.

Our win felt good and we did learn many things. However I feel that our opponents probably learned a little more – of how not to lose and would definitely come back stronger

In life too, the winner has it all. But the person not winning is not losing but gaining a little more.

He / she is getting to learn how not to fail the next time.

The efforts given would have been 100% but something just did not fall correct. Also the winners win because there were opponents – so the runners up are important that way too 😉

It does not mean that you lose every time to get more learning 😊 but never under estimate the efforts put it by your opponents. They teach you as well and learn themselves. They would always make an extra effort next time and one must respect that desire to reach the top again.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 - a chance to be better than before and to be ready to face their extra efforts.

The chance never to feel over confident of your abilities and stay on the ground – keep doing what you do best , better every time so you can again give a tough fight when needed

I leave you to this thought 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚... 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓! 😊

The games people play….. 😉

 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 # 128

The games people play….. 😉

My dad introduced me to the magical world of sports during one of those summer vacations when a kid my age could easily get bored. He taught me how to bat, how to hit that shuttle, how to spin the ball in Table tennis, the rules of lawn tennis and left me open to explore these wonders in my free time.

I would spend all my free time outside – playing these different sports along with other games – like ice pice, kho kho, and several others.

As a kid, I would spend hours playing these different sports with my father. Our home had a big terrace and during holidays and winters, my uncles and cousins also joined us and we would spend hours playing cricket or flying kites 😊

Those were the carefree days without any deadlines or responsibilities- the only thing to be done was homework. And after that you can spend all the time doing things you love – for me it was outdoor sports and other activities.

At that time, we played to have fun, to enjoy with friends and family members, to utilize the time. Very often there was competition of performing better than the other kids or scoring more in a particular game- but that was all temporary and forgotten at the same time.  We played and moved – didn't notice the immense learnings these games gave us.

I recently participated in a cricket tournament- it was internal in the housing society where I stay. We spent time practicing and upskilling ourselves in the mornings. The matches went well and our team won. We still have a final match to play in the coming weekend.

Post the match, I went into my thinking mode and realized the several learnings I got- learning from different team members, from myself – not only relating to the game but also as a person.

The biggest learning I got was of team work – how a well coordinated team works as a well oiled machine and does wonders. The win is not of one single person or not because of one single person but it is because of the efforts of each team member -the big or small contribution made by each one on the field – the support given by each one to everyone – the camaraderie, the trust and respect for each other and the willingness to share what one knows – all this a receipe for a good game – you win or loose but you gain something everytime.

This is also true for every other game – teamwork is main ingredient for all of them along with patience, consistency, perseverance, never die attitude and courage to keep going.

In short the magical world of sports teaches a lot. Besides keeping you fit and healthy, it helps to build your emotional strength as well.

I am thankful to have been introduced to this magic as a kid and still able to do it…..

So what game do you play…. ? 😉

I leave you to share your thoughts on this 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚........ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓! 😊
