To stress or not to stress…. That is not a question my friend……..

 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 # 118

To stress or not to stress…. That is not a question my friend……..

I read an interesting article yesterday about how now an audit is also needed for stress….. it was more specific to audit related profiles and in line with the recent incident of a professionally qualified lady giving up her life due to work stress… a lot has already been said about it

Stress arises in different forms and shapes…. At different times and intervals…. At different stages of life and to different people differently. Some don’t understand that they are under stress, some ignore it, some find a solution and some overcome it.

One of the most important aspects is to talk about it – rather than continue suffering. Even talking may not give you a conclusive solution but it will definitely lighten your mind. The person you may talk to may also give you some easy and workable solution.  Talking also does not mean discussing it with others only but also speaking up against the person or situation giving you stress

During the early years of my career, I worked under managers who were quiet rude and created toxic work environment. Talking to juniors in a not so polite way and overloading with work was the norm. As a fresher I did not speak much against it and went with the flow considering that this was the way how things worked in corporate. Being a person with less experience, I thought that I can’t do much and that may impact my career as well. In between all this I had forgotten about my own well being and was ignoring the situations causing the stress.

I moved ahead in my career and to a better work environment as well where my skills were valued. This made me realise that for the level of skills one acquires, the level of stress we take is not worth it. We spoil our own value and the value of the experience and efforts put in.

Even in personal lives people take a lot of stress when things are not working. Isn’t it better to talk about it with someone or with the person causing the stress than to keep brooding about it. A solution may be there which we are missing in our anxiety.

So, whatever the situation may be personal, professional or otherwise, talk about the stress with someone or the person causing it. Don’t let the stress wear you out. Just one way of dealing with it…..

‘If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten’

𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 # 117

‘If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten’

It started with a thought... A thought that came during my morning walk... After days of stress and anxiety due to a family emergency.... A thought which was further discussed with dear friends and worked on... And it finally became a lovely creation.... A creation which brought and formed a lovely group together... A group coming from different walks of life, speaking different languages, following different customs... But following their own passion... Passion to act, write and to
create something amazing

I got a chance to write and direct a drama... A Hindi play for an inter society competition during Ganpati celebrations. I love writing but taking out time for such a big project was a challenge in itself. I was doubtful initially as I never directed before. I took it up initially just going with the flow, and later as doing
𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒅𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆. I adjusted my routine to accommodate time for it without affecting family and work responsibilities. The whole concept and the company of amazing actors gave me a lot of learnings and the days spent on this did not seem difficult and easily breezed by.
We presented the play this Saturday - coincidentally it was the first Hindi play ever presented in this competition and that too on Hindi Divas... The acting, concept, direction and overall play got a lot of appreciation...whatever be the result (which will be announced in October) we all are already winners and achievers in our own eyes....

This experience gave me lots to think about and continue applying

·       𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 - each of us attended the morning practice sessions taking out time from daily tasks because we enjoyed doing it. The love for what one was doing was above the busyness of life

·       𝐀𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 - our senior most actor is 70+ and youngest is a teenager. At any stage of your life, you can take up your passion...that extra thing apart from your work

·       𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤!!- it's very rare that a person can succeed alone.. no story would have worked without the coordination from actors nor would the actors have performed without a good story. Everyone was different and had to work together to come to the same page

·       𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬! – everyone worked hard and gave their best….. at the end self -satisfaction is the result which matters the most.

·       𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 - If you have a slight inkling on something that you can do, go for it… don’t look for the ifs and buts … else you would be left with lots of whatifs…

I leave you on this thoughtful 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚........ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓! 😊

Taking help to help yourself

𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 # 116

Taking help to help yourself

“Mohan was stuck in his task... He was not able to crack the story behind the numbers .... Something was not as expected ...Being new to the industry, everything was still new to him He couldn't find the reasons behind the huge gap in the monthly numbers compared to expected.... And he had to present it to leadership the next morning. Being a professional accountant, he was expected to understand and know the answers and was reluctant to take help. His colleague was passing by and enquired the reason of his worry. On coming to know he sat down with him and together they were able to work out the solution”

“Meera was all alone taking care of her child and working from home. Her husband was traveling and other family members had gone out of station for some family function. It was becoming difficult for her to work and take care of her kid at the same time. She was getting frustrated. At that time, she got a call from her friend. She snapped back at her and then explained her situation. Her friend immediately offered help and came over. While Meera worked, her kid was taken care for by her friend and they later spent together some good time”

“Reena had recently moved alone to this city for work. Since past one week she was not keeping well. She had to visit a doctor but could not go. She ordered some medicines but they were not helping. She was hoping to get well without worrying anyone in her neighbourhood. The elderly lady in the flat next to her saw her when she collected the medicines and enquired about her well -being. She sensed something was wrong. Reena told her about her illness inability to visit a doctor…. her neighbours immediately helped her and took her to doctor.”

All the above stories tell about people who did not want to take help or were hesitant or too proud to ask for it. But when they did so, their problem was resolved sooner.

I myself don't prefer asking for help. Not being dependent on anyone or anything is what I like. But my perception changed when I asked for help during a medical emergency at home. Help poured in all forms and I was able to resolve things.

Many of us may be like that. We don't ask for help. We don’t want to show others our vulnerability or weakness. What will others say? What will others think that I can’t do this even?? Are the helpless questions which come to our mind… We keep circling round and round in our trouble without finding a solution when it may come easily with someone’s help. All of us have different reasons for not asking for help- some may be genuine ones and some may not.  But asking for help does help. The helping hands and minds ease out the situation and help to find a solution quickly and easily.  It is good to be independent and do things on your own, but if need be one must reach out for help.

What do you feel about asking for help? Any interesting story you may want to share.. ?

I would leave you to this helpful 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚........ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓! 😊

The mystery of the fallen flowers….

 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 # 115

The mystery of the fallen flowers….

On my morning walk I came across some beautiful flowers – fallen on the ground but looking pretty with sweet fragrance. They gave a beautiful clickable pose and a bright start to my day. I tried to search for the plant but could not see these flowers in any tree nearby and walked away with a question mark

Later during the day. I researched a little about them – the beautiful Harsingar/ Raat ki rani (Jasmine) flowers or Parijat as they are also called. And there were so many interesting facts about the plant

It is considered to be a sacred plant brought to earth by Lord Krishna. And it is the only flower that can be picked from the ground and offered to the god as for other flowers, you must pluck them to offer them to God. The plant flowers at night and sheds them in the morning as the sun rises- making it difficult to find the plant in the morning and admire it!!

The plant and flowers themselves have lots of benefits – mostly medicinal. Right from the roots to leaves , almost every part of the plant offers some benefit—apart from the lovely fragrance.

So many benefits and beauty but the plant choses not to display it!! It blooms at night when no one may be there to appreciate it and makes the flowers available for everyone in the morning. Quietly it offers its benefits…..  Infact this is the case everywhere in nature and other flora and fauna--- being down to earth and offering help whenever and wherever it can

There is so much to learn from this plant as well as other plants.

As we progress in life and do well, many a times we forget our base, our initial struggle, our friends and well-wishers and consider ourselves to be the know-it-all person, ignoring and forgetting many things and people, showing it off, become pretentious, unfriendly or arrogant.

We forget to be down to earth like these plants …..

If for once we try to embrace theses qualities of Jasmine and emit its fragrance rather than arrogance, we will be a different person – not showing off in spite of our many qualities – rather using these qualities to help where ever we can!!

I leave you to this fragrant 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚........ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓! 😊
