India
goes to vote!! I voted. Did you?
Election time in India these days... And considering the demographics of the country it is a humongous task in itself
There are several interesting facts on how the elections are conducted now and how it all started...what are the different complexities at play and the enormous manpower and resources employed to achieve this task. An intriguing case study in itself!!
I was very excited to cast my vote. The voting happened yesterday in my area. A simple way of expressing your choice. You go to the assigned polling booth, show your I'd and your name gets ticked, and a blue mark inked on your finger to indicate that you have done your duty, and then the beep once the button is pressed and vote registered. A task of few minutes ( more minutes if one needs to be part of a que due to the rush) but something so precious and important that it seals the fate of country 's next few years.
Voting is our right as an Indian citizen and must be exercised ... Wisely as well. There may be some complexities in terms of whether your name is appearing in the voter's list or not or whether you got your name updated in the related voter's list but that is an effort worth taking
Instead of ' what will happen with my one vote', 'what special will happen if I vote, things will remain the same', ' it's too hot to go outside to vote', 'i don't have time to go out and vote', etc etc... why not understand the importance of your vote and cast it. Whom you chose is your choice but that should also be done
judiciously.
We don't have any monetary fine or boundation to vote like in many countries. But why do we need that when we are getting a chance to choose our own representatives who can represent us in the government? Shouldn't it be an initiative by ourselves rather than people requesting us to vote?
Voting has become more easier now compared to earlier years... With booths reaching far off places, special facilities for people with medical issues to facilitate them to cast their vote, quicker voting and still people have many excuses of not exercising this exquisite right given to them.
If you have already voted, kudos to you... if you have not, do go out to vote on the assigned date... And if you are planning to enjoy the leave and not vote .... No words for you my friend...
I leave you to this thought on this ๐พ๐๐
