𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈?
Recently a mistake committed by an intern at HBO became the talk of the town. A mysterious and puzzling email landed in the boxes of some HBO Max subscribers. Just hours later, the company said that the message was intended to be an empty test email, and "yes, it was the intern."
The unnamed intern quickly became the new star of HBO Max on social media, as hundreds of encouraging messages poured in to reassure the intern that mistakes happen, in all phases of careers. (link in comments)
Can you talk about one mistake you committed during your work? This was a question asked to me in a job interview few years back. I was skeptical in answering it – should I disclose the mistake committed? What would others say? At last, I shared a mistake committed in my early part of the career along with the lesson learned from it
Above two are examples of mistakes made – we all are humans and programmed to make mistakes 😉 – you work and you commit an error
It is ok to make a mistake – but what you do after that is more important. Whether you make efforts to fix it or leave it as is? Do you learn something from it and apply it going forward? Or you sulk and keep thinking about what has happened.
As important it is to learn from your mistake, it is also important to accept it. Many a times people make an error but instead of admitting it, they try to hide it. One would need to do 100 things to cover it up when 1 thing of admitting it could have been done.
I remember sending out an email to the leadership during the start of my career without an attachment. I was quite scared but my immediate manager coolly guided me – he shared a simple process he followed while sending mails. And I still follow it. I also learnt how to deal with mistakes committed by others.
Your team members or family members may also make mistakes – it is up to us how we deal with those- whether we shout and crib about it or find for possible solutions and ways to avoid repetition of this
I leave you to this thought of mistakes on this 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚... 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒈𝒖𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌... 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆... 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 '𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔' 𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 '𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑮𝒐𝒅' 𝒇𝒐𝒓! 😊
